Vision & Mission: Building Sustainable Market Linkages for PH Farmers

Building sustainable market

A lot of Filipino farmers are still struggling to sustain their farms due to low capital and lack of access to better markets.

To address this issue, many NGOs are working towards building direct market linkages between our local growers and big commercial buyers, as well as reputable financing institutions all over the world.

At the forefront of this noble effort to scale Philippine agriculture is THINNKFARM, INC. It aims to promote sustainable farming practices and improve the livelihoods of Filipino farmers.

Aptly named “ThinnkEduc”, “ThinnkTech”, and “ThinnkMarket”, these three pillar programs of THINNKFARM will connect farmers to potential buyers; provide them with technical assistance; and offer free marketing services for their products to scale their businesses.

The group has also initiated efforts to establish an innovative TESDA-certified institution for agri-business. It hopes to certify farmers in the future by providing complimentary training programs in crop production (NCI to NCIII), hog raising (NC II), fish farming (NCI), and food processing.

These series of professional training ensure that their products meet the quality standards required by big commercial buyers.

“Since a lot of farmers continue to struggle to access markets, which limits their earning potential big time, certifications like this could allow farmers to participate in bigger trade opportunities,” Ariestelo “Aries” Asilo, Chairman and Founder, said.

“They can sell their produce at a higher price and we can permanently eliminate the need for middlemen,” he added.

Additionally, to enhance the income of farmers, they must first increase their productivity, which requires additional financial resources. The extensive network of THIINNKFARM can facilitate access to reliable lending companies and agricultural banks worldwide.

By providing affordable loans, farmers can purchase more seeds, fertilizers, and equipment. These loans are designed to be flexible, too, allowing farmers to repay them over a period that suits their needs.

Indeed, Thinnkfarm is making a significant contribution to the lives of farmers. It, too, is helping to create a sustainable farming future for the entire Philippines, protecting the environment and ensuring a secure source of income for farmers for many years to come. — RUFFIE NYHL CRUZ
